Carnival 2011, which was held at Kuchalambal Kalyana Mandapam, Chetpet, Chennai on Sunday, the 9th of January 2011
Received tremendous response from Chennaiites.There was good exhibition of stalls by women entrepreneurs.They were a visual treat and the shoppers had a real field trip. The events were mindboggling. Cooking lovers vied with each other and did absolute justice to the title “Innovative Saffola Oats cookery contest” and did wonders with oats be it savory or sweet.
Judges,Chef Dhamu and Culinary Queen, Mrs.Mallika Badrinath had a tough time in selecting the winners. It was a piece of cake for the children with the Annapoorna Ashtakam, who recited the Ashtakam with such grace and ease. The children participated in the “On the spot activity games” with so much enthusiasm.The quiz on current affairs was well received by the audience.Cash Gift envelopes competition was another event which provided lot of opportunity for the women to exhibit their creativity.Collage competition and Drawing Painting competitions were also intriguing and imaginative for the children to stimulate their hidden talents.The Kuthuvizhakku decoration by our committee member Mrs. Calve Sumathi was as usual unusual.It was lit by Mrs. Y. V. Krishna Kumari before the start of the meeting. Our Chairperson, Mrs. Ranjani Narayanan welcomed the gathering.Our respected chief guest,Mr. Y. V. Harikrishna Garu of Gopuram Kumkum, felicitated our sabha and donated Rs. 10000/- to our sabha. Our Secretary,Mrs. Sujatha Ramesh Babu was felicitated and awarded a citation for her accomplishments by our Mahila Sabha.Our Secretary, Mrs. Sujatha Ramesh Babu read out the Secretary’s report for the year 2010.
Our Treasurer,Mrs.Neeraja Vasanth read out the projects and scholarships.The scholarships and projects were handed over to the students by our respected chief guest. The MC for the evening was Mrs.Vijayanthi Bhashyakarlu who took care of the proceedings very smoothly.The meeting was followed by the skit, by our committee members, Smt. Voora Sasikala, Smt. Sujatha Ramesh Babu, Smt. Sunitha Ajit and Smt. Padma Preetha,was a mirror to the everyday life of ourchildren and how they were falling prey to the ills of modern gadgets. It was short and sweet. At the end of the skit, Our Advisory Committee member, Smt. Kala Bashyam introduced the artists to the audience. The highlight of the day was the light music by Junior Superstars, who didSrinisha and Sharatha wonderful job in entertaining the crowd. The sponsors for the Carnival 2011 were Viveks, Vaibhav Enterprises, Saffola Oats, Soyavita and Akash lites.TNAVMS has done it yet again. This year’s carnival is also a blast, thanks to the efforts taken by all its committee members and the wonderful audience.It was a treat for all the five senses.
