TNAVMS Madras Unit celebrated Women’s Day totally differently with the 60 Lady Inmates of Akshaya Trust. Two buses were arranged to bring these 60 women from Valasarawakkam, Mudichur and Pallikkaranai to the venue. Under the leadership of Chairperson, Mrs. Sujatha Ramesh Babu, Project Chairman, Mrs. Padma Preetha Sumanth, the program was organized with wonderful activities. The Chief Guest was the ever so softspoken Mrs. Surekha, President, Women’s Wing, World Telugu Federation. Padma Preetha was the MC and the entire days events went smoothly thanks to her wonderful compering in Tamil. The Akshaya inmates were treated like Queens by placing Tiaras on their head, Putting a Chain around their necks, gave them a variety of things contributed by all our Mahilas, new Sarees, Blouses, bags, pouches, Toiletries, sweets, snacks, soap, oil, etc., some gave cash. We all received their collective blessings. They were orphaned by their children. The Trust is doing this great deed of taking care of these wonderful women. There were some women who have not come out of the home for the past 5 years. They were ecstatic and dancing away. We after honoring them and refreshments, we entertained them with a variety of programs. Vignesh danced so beautifully and gracefully by flexing his body so well. Chandini whistled beautifully and took us all to another world. We Mahilas under the leadership of our charming Padma Preetha came up with a medley of 10 old tamil songs and Mr. Sailesh Josyula played the keyboard for us and that was the highlight of the entire show. The Ladies from the Trust enjoyed them and comfortably danced few steps. Our Joint Secretary, Bhargavi Prasad gave a beautiful Dance and there was another skit by Manimala and Bhargavi about the various schemes of the Government and even the inmates utilized the opportunity and sang so beautifully. There was a delicious feast for all of us sponsored by Chandrika Kuberan and Maheswari Siva and all of them blessed us abundantly. It was a day to cherish.
